Alexander McQueen Study Trip - May 2011 [Introduction]

As I was writing my MA thesis about Alexander McQueen,
I went in New York in May to see the Savage Beauty exhibition in the Met.
There were 100 dresses, outfits and accessories displayed in a very beautiful setting,
built and organised by Alexander McQueen's very own team.
Thanks to the work of curators Andrew Bolton and Harold Koda
-and their team, Shannon Bell Price ;) -, I was able to
learn some more things about the english artist.
Seeing the fabrics and outfits from past collections,
(jellyfish shoes from SS 2010 Plato's Atlantis, or designs from
FW 2008 The Girl Who Lived in the Tree)
was a very unique experience that I recommend to you all.

You won't see any pictures from the exhibition here, I'm sorry,
because I was not allowed to shoot some. If you're in New York at the moment,
take a moment to visit the exhibition, it really worths it!
If my thesis had been published already I'd advise you to buy it (haha!) so you could
get more information about Alexander McQueen and his world.
Though, I got a really good grade, just as last year with my thesis about graffiti art.
I'll enter a phd program soon, so I can become a doctor in anglosaxon studies,
specialized in fashion history.

I stayed in New York for a week, avoiding touristic sites that I visited last year.
Some Coney Island, Greenwhich and Brooklyn are coming soon.

London calling to the zombies of death

I was in London during Halloween,
to do some research about Alexander McQueen
(I'm currently writing my Master 2 thesis about him)

I also went to Bath, to visit the Fashion Museum there.
I'll upload photos next time.

Right now, you can enjoy pictures of
my Halloween day and night in Camden Town.
Camden Town is my favourite place in London.
Hum, right, I should say
that it is my favourite place in the whole world.
I love Camden because you can be yourself up there.
Hippies, punks and goths mix their style.
People accept each other and don't care about differences.

When in Camden, just be yourself.

I want your horror, I want your design

Hi there.
I haven't been blogging for a while because I had a lot to do at university
but holidays are almost here so I'm back (how long? I don't know ^^)

Here are some pictures I shot during my rare free time.

Hope you enjoy them, even if some of them can shock.
I explain in notes what they are about. I hope you'll be tolerant,
but I'll accept all sorts of critics. Just remind that some pics are just about art.
;)

Seen in St Paul de Vence
(a charming little village of Southern French Riviera.
Many artists and wealthy people live there, there are lots of galleries
I just love this place!)

Seen in the harbour of Cros de Cagnes
(nearby my hometown, not a lot to do there except seeing
old fishers' boats, but the "promenade"
by the sea is really nice at the end of the afternoon).

Seen in Le MAMAC of Nice
(the Museum of Art of Nice showed an exhibition
of Wim Delvoye. He tatooed pigs and stuffed them.
A lot of them had old school tatoos. I loved the exhibition
but I'm aware that a lot of people didn't agree and created
polemics. I just think it's art, but if we had to talk about that
it could last forever.)

My favourite one, love its smile! Pig by Wim Delvoye.

These streets will make you feel brand new

I post my pictures from my fourth day in New York
(I have few pictures of my third day because my best friend
and I went shopping , and the only pictures I have are crap.)
We took a train to go to Coney Island. This place was great
(it is a giant fair from the 60's) and I really enjoyed it but
we just froze because of the bad weather so we ended up in
New York Aquarium.
In the beginning of the night, we went to the Nasau Coliseum
where we attended a hockey game
(Saint Louis Blues -they won- Vs New York Rangers).
My best friend used to be a hockey player and he was really
happy to see the game. I confess I did enjoyed it!
